My favorite songs released in October (2021).
Aespa-Lucid Dream
So smooth, I hope Aespa releases more K r&b songs!
Aespa-Yeppi Yeppi
I was not sure about this song at first, but it has grown on me. The chorus is catchy.
Black Veil Brides-The Wicked One
I don't like it as much as Torch or Scarlet Cross, but the song is still good. I like the chorus. Probably one of my favorite songs on The Phantom Tomorrow. I don't listen to pop rock/post hardcore as much as I used to, but I appreciate +5 year old bands still cranking out music.
bugAboo-All Night Play
I fell in love with the preview of this song in the highlight medley. Parts of the song reminds me of early 2010s electropop and the rap section sounds a little like Dumb Dumb by Red Velvet (they share the same composer). The bridge is pretty.
Cassadee Pope-Thrive
Hey Monday last released a song in 2010 or 2011, so it has been nearly a decade. Since then, Cassadee Pope has released country/pop songs. In her latest album, she blends pop rock and country together. I am happy to hear Cassadee Pope go back to her pop rock roots a little bit. Thrive might be my favorite song on the album, but Just a Girl, Mind Your Own, and Sis are good too.
Chase Atlantic-Escort [Explicit]
Their recent album Beauty in Death was hit and miss. Since then, the Australian trio has released Oh Mami and Escort. I do not like Escort as much as some of their releases in 2017 (I like the dark r&b sound), but the song is still good (saxophone parts are always nice) The cover artwork is pretty-I like the pinks and blues.
Enhypen-Go Big or Go Home
I have been feeling nostalgic for late 00's and early '10s pop/electronic music recently, so this hits the spot. I prefer the verses over the chorus/post chorus.
From20-f**k you
A mellower song from Raehwan (ex-Bigstar). f**k you is not good as his previous release in my opinion, but I appreciate the chill vibes-and From20 is quickly becoming one of my favorite Kpop male soloists (along with Kang Daniel-ex Wanna One-and Woodz).
Kaile Goh-Your Friend
I first discovered Kaile Goh and her song Gold when I was in middle school (2010-2012). Gold quickly became one of my favorite songs. Unfortunately, she went on a hiatus for nearly a decade. At the end of 2020, she released Pocket Money and has been releasing singles every few months since. Your Friend is her latest. I appreciate the pop/rock influence, as I grew up with the genre when I was middle school and early high school.
Lights-Prodigal Daughter
Lights is another female I discovered during middle school (around 2010). The first album that I heard from her was The Listening, and it is one of my favorite albums (fun fact: I was at a North Carolina beach listening to The Downtown Fiction/Lights when the 2011 VA earthquake struck) . Even though her sound has shifted, I still listen to her music. New Fears and We Were Here are in my top 100 favorite songs, so I was excited to check out her new music. Prodigal Daughter is very different from Savior and Ice, but I like the funky vibes. I hope Lights releases a new album soon!
I normally do not listen to album introductions. However, this one took me by surprise. I thought I was going to learn more about Pixy's lore, but they included the introduction song in the lore video. The beginning is intense, but the vocals are so nice. I wish the song was longer.
Pixy-Addicted
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I like Let Me Know more than Addicted. Pixy's title tracks have been good so far, and Addicted continues the streak. The video is very pretty (as well as Ella's vocals). I like the groove of the chorus/post-chorus.
Twice-The Feels
Song is so catchy and fun. I'm not sure about the lyrics. However, the "whoas" in the first verse are fun. The boy I know boy I know part is so catchy.
Woodz-Kiss of Fire
It's Woodz. His voice is so nice. I like K-R&B vibes. The guitar adds a nice touch. I really like the post-chorus. The second verse is groovy, then the pre chorus is chill and smooth.
Woodz-Waiting
Groovy. Funky. Cool. I like the song a lot. I do not know what else to say. Woodz's falsetto is nice.
